Association of Surgical Education: Ethics of Surgery Fellow

John P. Kirby, MD, MS, FCCWS, FACS is a new EthoS 2025 ASE Fellow who has tried to incorporate ethical principles and practices into every level of his career as a Trauma and ACCS Surgeon, focusing on improving the care for skin and soft tissue wound healing problems. He is a graduate from the University of Illinois system(s) for college, graduate, medical school, residency, fellowship and first appointments as a surgeon. He has directed undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate rotations and focused CME events for the University of Illinois, the University of Illinois Metropolitan Group Hospitals Residency in General Surgery, the Hektoen Institute of Medicine Conferences with Dr. Jonasson, the Scholl School of Podiatry, Washington University School of Medicine in St Louis (Surgical Clerkship Director 2010-2018), the American College of Surgeons, the Symposium on Advanced Wound Care and the Undersea & Hyperbaric Medical Society.  His current academic interests include the ethical incorporation of industry-sponsored funding for basic and translation science clinical applications in wound healing, as well as how evolving perfusion and transplantation technologies will need further ethical guidelines.
