Alison Gildehaus, MD, MBA, FACS

Association of Surgical Education: Ethics of Surgery Fellow

Alison Gildehaus, MD, MBA, FACS is a board-certified general/trauma surgeon and fellowship-trained surgical intensivist. With over 18 years of clinical experience, she currently serves as the Chief Medical Officer of External Affairs at Mid-America Transplant, where she bridges clinical leadership with strategic engagement across healthcare systems. Dr. Gildehaus holds both an MD and an MBA, bringing a unique blend of medical expertise and business acumen to her work. She earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Duke University and Georgetown University, respectively.  She earned her medical degree from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in 2006 and completed her general surgical residency and surgical critical care fellowship at SSM Saint Louis University Hospital in 2013.  Dr. Gildehaus is a 2024 graduate of the Washington University Olin Business School Executive MBA program. She is passionate about servant leadership, improving patient outcomes, system-level care delivery, and saving lives through excellence in organ and tissue donation.
